Where do you place your smoke detector?

Learn more about the legal obligations in your country here. In addition to meeting legal obligations, we recommend that you optimize fire safety in your home by installing smoke detectors in strategic locations:

• Escape routes: Place smoke detectors in hallways and near stairs, especially if they lead to bedrooms. This ensures that smoke is detected quickly and you can respond in a timely manner.
• Bedrooms: It is crucial to install smoke detectors in or near bedrooms so that the alarm can alert everyone during the night. This increases the chances that residents will be awakened in time in the event of a fire. In this regard, choose a bedroom-friendly Sleep Line smoke detector without a standby LED.
• Living rooms: A smoke detector in the living room is important, especially if appliances that can cause smoke and fire, such as a fireplace, are often used.
• Near kitchens: It is not recommended to place smoke detectors directly in the kitchen because of the risk of false alarms due to cooking fumes. Place a smoke detector near a kitchen or choose our specially designed Aroha Heat Detector around the kitchen to detect fire in time.
• Within range of 2.4 GHz WiFi network: Place your Aroha Smart Connect & Link smoke detector within range of the 2.4 GHz WiFi network so that the detector can connect to the app. You yourself do not have to be within range of this same WiFi network to receive notifications. The other Aroha Link detectors are not connected to the app and therefore do not need to be within range of a WiFi network.
• Within range of interconnected group: Aroha Link detectors have a transmission range of up to 100 meters without obstacles, such as walls, doors and ceilings. Make sure the Aroha Link detectors are within range of each other so they can alarm in sync.
• Locations to avoid: Avoid smoke detectors in areas of high humidity, such as bathrooms and garages, to avoid false alarms.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How many detectors do I see in the app? In your Tuya Smart or SmartLife app, only Aroha Smart Connect (& Link) detectors connected via 2.4 GHz WiFi are visible. Aroha Link detectors are not displayed in the app. Thanks to the interconnection between the Aroha Smart Connect Smoke Detector and Aroha Link detector(s), you receive notifications of alarms going off in the group.
2. What happens if an alarm goes off in the interconnected group? You get a notification on the app through your Aroha Smart Connect & Link Smoke Detector. You will only see that an alarm is going off in the group, but not where the original alarm started.
3. Can I add the Aroha Smart Connect & Link Smoke Detector with WiFi to my existing Aroha Link network? Yes, you can link it to your existing network of up to 30 Aroha Link smoke, heat, carbon monoxide and combination detectors, as long as they are within the range of 100 meters (with no obstructions).
4. What happens when I use the mute button in the app? Only the Aroha Smart Connect & Link Smoke Detector is muted; the other interconnected detectors remain active. You can mute these with the mute button on the detectors.
5. Can I link multiple Aroha Smart Connect & Link Smoke Alarms together? Yes, you can both link these smoke detectors together and manage them individually through your app no matter where you are. You will see all Aroha Smart Connect & Link Smoke Alarms in your Tuya Smart or SmartLife app, including battery status. You can mute them individually, but if an alarm goes off, you will receive multiple notifications in the app. You cannot see where the alarm originally came from; all detectors alarm at the same time.

Note: This Aroha Smart Connect & Link smoke detector is a WiFi detector with interconnection with Aroha Link detectors. You do not need to have a subscription in the Tuya or SmartLife app to receive notifications or use the other features described.
