Low battery

The battery is low; the detector should be replaced. Contact us to exchange it if it is still under warranty.

Error message

Clean the detector by using a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush and vacuuming all sides and covers of the detector. If the problem persists, the detector is not working properly. Contact us to exchange it if it is under warranty.

No alarm

Check whether the smoke detector is activated. You activate the smoke detector by pressing the entire front of the smoke detector (= test button) until the red LED lights up; this takes at least 10 seconds.
After you release the test button, a green LED on the front of the smoke detector flashes every 56 seconds.

Unexpected (false) alarm

Check if there is any danger from smoke and/or fire nearby. Once danger is ruled out, press the test button to set silent mode.

To prevent future false alarms, clean and maintain the smoke detector as directed. Also consider hanging the smoke detector in another location, should it give a false alarm due to e.g. water vapors.

Good to know

Transmission range

Aroha Link smoke, heat, CO and combination detectors have a transmission range of 100 meters without obstructions such as walls, ceilings, doors and windows. You can test if all detectors are interconnected after installation by pressing the test button of 1 Aroha Link detectors; then all test alarms of all interconnected detectors will also sound.

Interconnection with Aroha Link.

Aroha Link detectors, including. smoke detectors (SM11R4), heat/smoke detectors (SM11HR), carbon monoxide detectors (CO11R) and combination detectors (CS11R), can be easily interconnected.

Want to expand your set-up with a smart app? Then add an Aroha Smart Connect & Link Smoke Detector (SM11HW) to the linked group. This smart smoke detector will automatically forward all alarms in the group to your phone. This way you are always informed, no matter where you are.

Maintenance & cleaning

Test the smoke detector once a month.

Clean the smoke detector at least once a month to remove dust, dirt or debris. Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush and vacuum all sides and covers of the smoke detector.

Do not paint the smoke detector, as paint closes the vents and interferes with the sensor’s ability to detect smoke.

Do not take the smoke detector apart to clean the inside or replace the battery, for example, as this will damage the smoke detector.

Test mode

Test the smoke detector by pressing the entire front (= test button). Then the alarm sounds three times and the red LED light flashes, followed by a short pause and another three times alarm and red LED light.

Note: Test the smoke detector once a month. Do not test the smoke detector with an open flame. This may damage the detector or ignite combustible materials and cause a structural fire. Do not stand near the detector when the alarm sounds. Close-range exposure can be harmful to your ears.

When you mute or test one detector, all paired Aroha Link detectors will automatically join in.

Silent mode

Silent mode should be used only when the source of the alarm is known and safe. Press the test button (= entire front of smoke detector) to set silent mode. During this silent mode, the red LED flashes once every 8 seconds. The smoke detector automatically resets after 10 minutes.

When you mute or test one detector, all paired Aroha Link detectors will automatically join in.

Irreplaceable battery

The battery cannot be replaced. Both the battery and the sensor have the same lifespan. So we recommend replacing the smoke detector as soon as the battery runs out.
Do not attempt to replace the battery as this will render the smoke detector inoperable and may cause a fire due to the high capacity lithium battery.
Please contact us to exchange it if it is still under warranty.
